Homeschooling is not new. However, in many countries, it is still an isolate thing. Parents are still more confident on the conservative way of learning, i.e. public school learning. But, for many parents in the US,UK and some other countries like Australia and New Zealand, homeschooling is just another way of formal education approach.

The fact is, homeschooling is more than just a conservative school. Even if it has the same timetable, curriculum, outdoor activities, teacher (the parents or any professional teachers hired by the parents) and student (the kids themselves) it is lots more efficient and warm, with lots of love without grading or comparing.

A leading in Homeschooling, John Holt stressed that, in order to learn, children need full access to the learning materials, real world, freedom to explore, emotional support and time to think and to access their ability. These elements make children able to learn themselves, thus making the learning process more effective and efficient.

And you can"t find that in any school! For homeschooling practices, learning environment at home is conducive, encouraging and acknowledging enough for them to have full access to their abilities; to work more and achieve more.

School is a place where too many pupils for a teacher to handle. As a matter of fact it is hard to handle such active children. The grading and marking system makes some students fail while others succeed. This will make the children having the feeling of "only best student can win anything". This kind of competition can indeed discourage the children.

This will not happen to homeschooling children. The restriction in contact with outside peers and environment give them freedom to do and explore creative things they like under parental guidance.

Therefore, homeschooling is about freedom. However, they still using practical curriculum and methods of teaching such as Montessori, Thomas Jefferson, Uncshooling and many more. However, some families prefer different approach and mix the methods. This will give them more space to explore and learn.

Remember, homeschooling is not only about "bringing the school to home" but it"s more to develop a house to be a home, as well as a school. There are many living proves out there. Majority of homeschool graduates are active in community, civic affair and very happy with their life, compare with those who undergo normal school education.
